Working towards a Green Future

To make Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's dream come true, we joined the Green Kalam mission in November 2017. The objective is to plant as many saplings as possible by bringing awareness to younger generation kids and the public.

On 03-Nov-2017, film actor Dr. Vivek inaugurated Green Kalam program in Alwarkurichi, a village in Tirunelveli Dist. Dr. Vivek gave an awareness speech to school students and promoted his mission to plant 1 crore trees in Tamilnadu. During this program, we held a rally about Global warming on the streets of Alwarkurichi.

Tree Plantation: Welcome

Between Nov-2017 to Mar-2018, with the help of volunteers, we planted 10,470 saplings in colleges, schools, and villages (43 locations in total). Types of saplings are Pungan Tree (Pongamia Pinnata), Flame of forest (Butea Monosperma), vadham Tree, Shenbagam Flower Tree.

With the longer term benefit in mind, we are continuing the Green Kalam program in 2018 as well. We see a larger interest from educational institutions this year and our volunteers are engaged with nearly 25+ schools. So far, we have planted and distributed 10,000+ saplings across 12 schools. The type of saplings that we planted are Pungan Tree (Pongamia Pinnata), Flame of forest (Butea Monosperma), vadham Tree, Shenbagam Flower Tree.

In Manthiyur, a village near Alwarkurichi, we planted 2300 saplings with the help of local panchayat officials and the villagers. The type of saplings that we planted are Pungan Tree (Pongamia Pinnata), Flame of forest (Butea Monosperma), vadham Tree, Shenbagam Flower Tree.
